Kids Science

Science Encourages curiosity and promotes the quest for life's answers!

Disclaimer (Technology): Note that the World Health Organization suggests the following limitations for children regarding technology:
  • Infant (less than one year of age): Screen time is not recommended.
  • 1-2 years of age: No screen time
  • 2-3 years of age: An hour at most for 2-year-olds, with less time preferred.
  • 3 to 4 years old: No more than one hour daily.

Science has led to the discovery of everything from gravity to medicine; science itself is the search for cause and effect - it is based on natural curiosity—and when children aim to learn more about the world around them, it helps them to feel more grounded and connected to their world!

Science, directly and indirectly, influences all aspects of everyday life; it's everywhere, from the food we eat to how we get around. Once you see all the opportunities to learn, the relationship between science and critical thinking skills becomes apparent. From a very young age, science helps shape children's development in more ways than one! They develop essential science skills as they learn to ask questions, make predictions, observe, test, and then communicate their findings.

Benefits for kids:

1) Executive Function: 8 executive functions develop rapidly in the first five years, and four of them are related to the following essential skills:
  • Communication: Science helps children develop critical life skills, including the ability to communicate,
  • Organization: The ability to remain organized and focused,
  • Perspective: Science helps children find form their own opinions based on observation.
  • Self-Awareness: Science also helps children develop their senses and overall awareness.
2) Hands-on Learning: Most Children are hands-on learners because of their heightened sensory development, so exploring the world around them is essential, as it provides many opportunities to get out and explore their natural world. That is why you should always appreciate the power of learning through play - interacting with their environment will support their intellectual development.

3) Enhances Curiosity: Children are primed for learning; what they learn while young can impact their interests later in life. Although studies show that students develop an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics during elementary school, early exposure during their preschool years (2+) can significantly affect their psyche both socially and emotionally just through the experiences in exploration alone.
